Odmiana nazw wlasnych

We still have a long way ahead of us with those numerals (working on them), but in the meantime here's part of a paper I had to write in my kultura jezyka course, about declension of names.

    Good to have you back. I appreciate a handy reference for the declension of names. Unfortunately the english names for the various cases seem to be permanently hard-wired into my head. I'll have to write in the English names to help keep everything straight.

    Those cases and their non-Latin names gave me a hard time, too, so in the beginning I would write both the Polish names and the English ones, then the Polish names and the English abbreviations, and eventually only the Polish version. It may also help if you think of the word the name of the case derives from (like Narzednik from narzedzie = tool). And it's not really a big deal if you don't remember the Polish names, as most of the people who actually know the cases know the Latin terminology as well.

    Hi:
    I am coming to regret not taking Latin in high school. What sane person regrets not taking Latin? My husband took 5 years of Latin, French, Spanish and of course english and he's a total whiz at languages. When I moan about Polish declensions, he reminds that Latin has an extra case. Ugh. No sympathy.

    Not that it was a choice even at my school, but I agree entirely - I've struggled sooo much with these declensions...

    Anonymous, you do have my sympathy, just keep at it! :-)
