Polish consonants

Yes, those sounds that twist our tongues even when we no longer have major issues with grammar and manage to make ourselves understood. Most foreigners never get pronunciation right and they can be spotted immediatly, but that's part of the fun when it comes to learning Polish (or any other language, for that matter, but it may be that I am highly subjective, I love all my accents). So here's our attempt at making these very unfriendly sounds a bit more friendlier: Polish Consonants.
Anna, we do hope this helps :) Enjoy!

  4. Great to see a new post. I love this blog and am creating my own, inspired mostly by this blog. By writing and rewriting a lot of the grammar rules I hope to remember the details!

  8. Hi there, I just discovered your blog. My partner is Polish and last summer I stayed with his family in Andrychow. On and off I've been trying to learn polish for over a year, and mostly have difficulties with grammar.

  9. Hi Jade,

I know South Poland quite well - it's really beautiful, isn't it! I guess all I can say is keep going, persevere, it's worth it in the end to be able to talk to more and more people in Polish - and make use of some of the links on the right under 'Uczmy Się Polskiego', keep testing yourself and get your partner to test you - you'll get there!
    Pozdrowienie, Biluś

  10. Hi Biluś,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I had really positive experience with people when I tried communicate with them in Polish. They really appreciated. Next summer we are planning to stay in Poland for a month. So, I will get more and more exposure. I'll check the links. Until now I've been using textbook and other online resources.

  11. That's great news - actually I found the textbooks the most helpful overall, especially those of the workbook type, where you can answer questions on points of grammar - although my very favourite was "Czesc, Jak Sie Masz?" as I really enjoyed the narrative and context about Polish culture as well as the grammar and vocab :-)
